Emaar Properties announced the expansion of Dubai Mall.
Dubai is constantly trying to up its game. The city has the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, the deepest dive pool in the world, Deep Dive Dubai and the largest shopping mall in the world, Dubai Mall, amongst many others. And now, this mall is getting even bigger.
Emaar Properties, the developers behind Dubai Mall, have announced the expansion of this shopping haven. Currently home to 1,200 retail stores, Dubai Mall’s upgrade will include an additional 240 luxury outlets. Plus, the count of 160 dining outlets will also be increased as part of the upcoming expansion that is estimated to cost over AED 1.5 billion.
Last year, Dubai Mall earned a new record as the most visited place on Earth, with 105 million visitors — this was a 19 per cent increase from the year before, justifying the current expansion plans.
“The new Dubai Mall expansion is a great addition to one of the most visited sites in the world,” shared Emaar Properties founder, Mohamed Alabbar. “This expansion reflects Dubai’s ambitious vision to remain at the forefront of global innovation and culture, further solidifying our city’s position as a top global destination.”
Now this isn’t the first time Dubai Mall has undergone expansion. Originally opening in 2008, the mall grew bigger in 2019 and introduced Dubai Mall Zabeel which brought more lifestyle and dining concepts — and 3,000 more parking spaces — to this establishment.
While Dubai Mall has plenty of parking space — that doesn’t cost you a fil — things are about to change. In late 2023, plans for Salik to roll out paid parking at the mall premises were revealed. This is expected to come into action later this year.
Development is currently ongoing on-site, however, details of when this new addition will open are still under wraps.
Isn’t it about time you took a trip tp the most visited place on Earth?
