FACT Review: eforea Spa at Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah
The hotel’s hammam offers an extravagant experience.
One of life’s great luxuries is privacy. At Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah, guests can get just that if they visit eforea Spa’s hammam. The opulent space can be booked for individuals or groups, and promises an indulgent spa experience.
Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah opened in August 2022. The hotel boasts one of the city’s longest swimming pools, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and Dubai’s first eforea Spa. The treatments include result-orientated and locally-inspired therapies. Plus, the site is home to eight treatment rooms, a spa suite and a Moroccan Hammam.
The word hammam means bath. The phrase refers to the Turkish bathing ritual in the 1400s when public bathing was commonplace. At eforea Spa, it was easy to put aside our inhibitions, as the therapist was professional yet discreet. We didn’t have to worry about being in public, as we had the changing room, sauna, steam room and hammam all to ourselves.
The Indulgent Hammam Journey lasts for 80 minutes. As it’s over the one-hour mark, it’s the perfect amount of time to unwind. The hammam brought together an Old World grandeur with beautiful blue tiles, brass bowls and jugs.
The experience started with a foot cleanse, and black soap wash across the whole body. Created from olive oil and macerated olives, the soap is high in Vitamin E. What followed was lathering, rinsing and repeating.
The highlight of a hammam is the Kessa scrub, which can make or break the experience. The best hammams should make you feel like you’re shedding not only your dead skin but also your worries – and at eforea Spa, we did just that. As we were asked to lie down, and switched from front to back, no spot was missed. The therapist managed to scrub hard without hurting us, and left our skin feeling so fresh and so clean.
The experiences also included a rassoul hair cleanse. While it can be indulgent to have someone wash your hair, this offered the least benefits and our hair did not show any signs of improvement. Plus, unlike most hammam experiences, we were not instructed to sit in the sauna or steam room.
The treatment ended with a back, neck and shoulder massage. Before we got too relaxed, however, we were dosed Wim Hof-style with cold water. After we had dried off and robed, we even had our own relaxation area with teas and dates. Our verdict: professional, palatial and, above all, private.
The Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah’s eforea Spa is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 10pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 10am to 11pm.
