West End Live is presented by Westminster City and Society of London Theatre, with the support of the Mayor of London. During the event, visitors will be able to sample shows, and decide which show is for them.
The full schedule and running times will be announced one week before the event. So far, the list of long-running productions include The Book of Mormon, Disney’s The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, RSC’s Matilda The Musical, Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, We Will Rock You and Wicked.
The list of new productions includes Back to the Future The Musical, Disney’s Frozen, Grease the Musical, Heathers The Musical, The Spongebob Musical and Tina: The Tina Turner Musical. Plus, it will feature performers from the award-winning Hamilton, which is also making its way to Abu Dhabi in 2024.
Councillor Tim Roca, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Young People, Learning and Leisure, explained: “West End Live is a highlight of the Westminster calendar so we’re very excited to invite fans to another weekend of incredible live performances in Trafalgar Square. Westminster City Council is committed to making live theatre, culture and the arts accessible for all of our communities, and events like this are a fantastic celebration of the world class theatre we have right on our doorstep.”
If you need to refuel, West End Live will also have food and drink stalls. Visitors can bring their own snacks, but alcohol is prohibited. The event takes place on 17 June from 11am to 5pm, and 18 June from midday to 5pm.
